Frequently Asked Questions

We’ve created this page for new and prospective patients. Here, you’ll find frequently asked questions about being a patient at Donaldson and Guenther. Have a question that isn’t addressed here? Please get in touch!

What can I expect from my first visit?

A new patient consultation appointment is the best way to discover if Donaldson & Guenther is the right dental practice for you. We take the time to listen to your dental desires and address your concerns. Next, we perform a thorough exam, after which we sit down together and look at the images of your smile and discuss findings from the exam.

During this conversation, we’ll show you what today’s dentistry has to offer. We respect that different people have different preferences and priorities, so we plan and organize your dental care with that in mind. Once we know what your short- and long-term goals are, you will discuss your appointments and financial arrangements with Ann in the front office. She is an expert in dental benefit plans and customizing arrangements so that people can get the dental services they want and need.

Some people just want a checkup and cleaning as their first appointment, while others see us for a brief consultation about implants, cosmetic dentistry, sleep apnea and snoring, and more. We also see new patients to immediately address urgent dental needs.

What about pain and fear of dentistry?

We take your comfort seriously, and receive excellent feedback from patients about how gentle we are. In order to help patients relax and remain comfortable during appointments, we use a variety of anesthetic and sedation techniques. When post-treatment pain is a possibility, we offer medications that will help. Feel free to browse our patient testimonials or read what people have to say about us on external review sites — we really are the gentlest dentists!

Do you offer assistance in payment for services?

No surprises! The cost of your expected dental treatment will always be fully disclosed. We work very hard to avoid financial surprises for our patients, and always contact insurance providers to determine your benefit level. We are very knowledgeable about flexible spending and pre-tax accounts, and work with you to ensure you receive your entire allotted benefit. Click here to view our fees and payment options.

What are the basic prices and fees for services?

We offer our patients world-class quality of care at fees that are locally competitive. Our ratio of quality to cost is extremely hard to beat. We have always used the finest materials, lab technicians, and superb staff; because of our quality standards, our fees are a bit higher than the average practice.

We see people from a wide socioeconomic range, including students, teachers, cooks, nurses, technicians, skilled trades, professors, professionals, executives, and artists. The common thread? All of our patients demand excellence.

Prior to treatment, we discuss all fees and financial arrangements to ensure you are completely comfortable and ready to move forward.

Your care is planned according to your personal preferences. Some people want everything done all at once, while others prefer things done over time. When people need a lot of dentistry, we usually are able to divide care into phases. This enables patients to make the most of their benefit packages over a series of years, lessening the financial burden.

What about teeth whitening?

At Donaldson & Guenther, there are several options for whitening your teeth. We stock a professional version of Crest White Strips that is stronger and less expensive than over-the-counter products. It works well for people with rather straight teeth of normal color ranges. We can also do custom bleaching with thin, soft trays, and show you how to properly use bleaching gel in the trays at home over a 2-4 week period. For people that want a big jump-start to teeth whitening, we provide Zoom bleaching. Call us for a cosmetic dentistry consultation to discuss your options.
