Zerrin Yilmaz DDS
Dr. Zerrin Yilmaz has lived in Ann Arbor since a very young age. She attended Greenhills high school and the University of Michigan: bachelor’s in biology (2006), and a DDS (2011). She completed an Advanced Education of General Dentistry Residency at the University of Detroit Mercy and St. John Providence Hospital (2012). She and her family have been long-time patients at Donaldson & Guenther, and Dr. Guenther had a strong influence on her interest in dentistry as a career. Zerrin has been closely mentored by both Dr. D&G and is doing terrific restorative dental work with consistently excellent reviews from our patients. She is in charge of our computerized E4D CAD/CAM dentistry that makes one-day, in-office, high-quality porcelain restorations possible. She is also doing beautiful Invisalign teeth straightening, Root Canals, and many of our surgeries.
Dr. Yilmaz enjoys spending time with her family, two dogs (Roo and Rolo), and cat (Winnie). She loves cooking and travel (Istanbul is her favorite destination). You can often find her walking her dogs, hiking in parks, and in the winter months, snowshoeing or skiing. As a true Wolverine, Dr. Yilmaz loves watching and attending Michigan football and basketball games. Go Blue!
Kirk Donaldson DDS MS
Kirk went to the University of Michigan for college, dental school (1980), and graduate school (1983). He holds a master’s degree in the dental specialty area of prosthodontics, which is essentially very complex dental restoration. Prosthodontics propelled Kirk’s expertise in dental porcelain and cosmetic dentistry. He is also highly trained and experienced in implant surgery, bone and tissue grafting, root canal treatment, and oral sedation dentistry. He received high academic and clinical honors from dental school and has served on the board for a large dental continuing education society.
Kirk enjoys life inside and outside the office with his wife and dental partner, Kristin. The family enjoys visiting national parks, hiking, climbing and skiing. kirkdonaldson.com is Kirk’s photo site, and showcases his range of interests. Kirk has always had a passion for the fine arts and does a lot of photography for the UM school of dance. He plays a little cello too. He is faith-based and has done mission dentistry for many years. Kirk doesn’t watch TV because there isn’t enough time.
Kristin Guenther DDS
Kristin climbed the dental ladder and put herself through school in the process. She started as a dental assistant, then became a dental hygienist, and again worked through school until receiving her DDS in 1982. All her degrees are from the University of Michigan. Kristin was one of the top students in her class and received high honors and recognition. Her clinical specialties include high-tech root canal treatment, advanced restorative procedures, cosmetic dentistry, oral sedation, and oral sleep apnea/snoring appliances.
Kristin takes great joy in her boys, Ian and Nathan … and Kirk (yes, they’re married). She puts up with Kirk’s climbing/skiing/photo adventures with a smile most of the time. Kristin’s passion is horses. She is an accomplished rider, and sometimes even helps develop others’ horses. Kristin is a great cook and has been in charge of serving a monthly gourmet meal to about 70 single moms at church for many years. She also loves fishing, gardening, concerts, plays, and art exhibits.
Ann, Practice Administrator
Ann is our practice administrator. She has been with Donaldson Guenther since 1992, and in that time has watched it grow into something extremely special. A true expert in dental insurance and billing, Ann has many patients call seeking her expertise on annual insurance planning, flex spending, and many other benefits. She helps people with personal scheduling and financial arrangements so they can receive the dentistry they desire. When asked what she likes most about her job, her response is building relationships with patients. Ann will go the extra mile to make a patient’s experience memorable, whether it is dealing with a stubborn insurance provider, taking the time to hear a family story or giving an elderly patient a ride home.
Wife to Jaymie, and mother to six sons, Jacob 31, Jeremy 29, Ben 28, Anthony 26, Nick 25, and Tristan 18, she is deeply involved in school activities. Ann grew up on a dairy farm with her four older brothers and sisters and knows what hard work is, as well as the tremendous rewards it provides. In her spare time, Ann is an exercise fanatic, participating in Yoga and Jazzercise, as well as triathlons and distance cycling. She recently completed her fourth 300-mile Make a Wish Ride from Traverse City to Brooklyn.
Jessi, Dental Assistant
Jessi brings her precision and efficiency to assist chair side. She also designs a lot of our computer generated ceramic restorations. She consistently delivers superior quality of experience for our patients. Her cheerful and enthusiastic attitude boosts the fun factor for our team.Jessi’s coworkers described her as extremely multi-faceted.
Jessi has a daughter, Estelle, that keeps her running, which by the way, is one of her favorite past times, sometimes competing! She also enjoys working out at Planet Rock! She’s very active in her church, and has been involved in many mission trips to Guatemala.
Kelly, Dental Hygienist, RDH
Kelly graduated from the University of Detroit Mercy in 2000 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Science; receiving her class’s highest clinical honor, the Golden Scaler Award. She has been working with D&G since 2003, and our patients consistently compliment her combination of gentleness, thoroughness, and professionalism. She is the “eagle eye” as her co-workers call her! She can not only give you tips on dental hygiene, but she is a vast storehouse of knowledge on natural supplements and holistic healing. . She takes a scientific and holistic approach to all she does.
Kelly and Shawn with son Aiden and daughter Evelyn recently purchased a new home in Hartland. Kelly loves to cook, and incorporates healthy eating and nutrition in everything she prepares. Her dream vacation is to visit Australia and New Zealand for an extended time.
Megan, Dental Hygienist
Our newest hygienist, Megan, comes to us from The University of Detroit Mercy, where she graduated in 2016 with a Bachelor’s of Science in Dental Hygiene. Among her academic accomplishments, she was class representative to the international dental fraternity, Alpha Omega, and in 2015, was one of only two hygiene students to be selected for their annual dental mission trip to The Dominican Republic. Megan has been with DGY since graduation, and says her favorite part of working as a dental hygienist is the opportunity to meet so many new people each and every day. She loves caring for her patients, as well as building new relationships with them.
When not busy helping develop healthy smiles, Megan can be found in yoga class, or binge watching a new Netflix series. Though she loves her work, she takes any opportunity available to pursue adventure through exploring foreign lands. Jerusalem is one of her favorite places to visit.
Melissa, Dental Assistant
Melissa is a delight to be around and an expert at putting people at ease with their dentistry. She has a wonderful sense of humor, and her attention to detail with patient care provides the highest level of comfort and expertise during procedures.
This is not generally known, but Melissa is secretly in love with Eminem! Unknown to her husband Greg, and two daughters Carlyn 14, and Morgan 12, she swoons over him whenever she hears him. In addition to Marshall Mathers, her hobbies include keeping Dr. Guenther organized, dog racing, reading, and wine tasting. At the top of her bucket list is a whitewater rafting trip. Her co-workers describe her as witty, compassionate, warm hearted, and terminally red-headed.
Shannon, Dental Assistant
Shannon is described by her coworkers as the office “mother”. Full of energy, she is warm, welcoming and always concerned with the welfare of her patients and fellow staff. She helps Dr. D with many of his complex cases and has an excellent eye for color and shape. She is active in producing our E4D CAD/CAM ceramic restorations. Many of you may know her from the annual Chelsea Fair where she has sung the National Anthem for the last 15 years. She is married to Rich and has two children, Madison 7 and Reagan
Maria, Dental Assistant
Maria is coined our resident cake maker! She is extremely creative which is why she is such a wonderful addition to our staff! Her soft quiet approach has put many a patient at ease, however she has a sneaky fun side that we all enjoy! When not at DGY she has a creative outlet at Baskin Robbins making ice cream cakes that are not only pleasing to the palate but the eye as well.
Joe, Administrative Assistant
Joe is a graduate of Grand Valley State University, and holds a bachelor’s degree in Radiation Therapy (2008), as well as a Master’s Degree in Healthcare Administration (2016). Joes loves the chance to exercise his passion for patient interaction that working at Dentistry as Fine Art provides him. He strives to learn each patient’s unique background and story.
When not interacting with patients, Joe loves following the U of M Wolverines football, basketball, hockey, and soccer teams. While at GVSU, he played club soccer, and still enjoys competing recreationally. He and his wife Jess have two beautiful daughters, Emma and Olivia, who are just 15 months apart, and keep them both running!
One of Joe’s many passions is the David Warsen Legacy Foundation David Warsen Legacy Foundation. David was a Navy Seal from Grand Rapids that was killed on a mission when his helicopter was tragically shot down, northeast of Kandarhar, Afghanistan on August 16, 2012. Joe serves as a volunteer for the Foundations annual fund-raising event every year.
Xavier, Dental Assistant
Xavier has called Ann Arbor his home for his entire life. He attended Pioneer high school, and earned his Bachelors in Biology from U of M (2016). He joins us in order to garner experience in the dental field, as he is applying to several dental schools, and hopes to attend the University of Michigan Dental School, just like Doctors Donaldson Guenther and Yilmaz. When not working or attending school, Xavier enjoys vigorous workouts and exercise, as well as traveling with friends. His family hails from Belgium, so he often travels there to visit family, and explore other parts of the European Union. Since coming to us, he has enhanced the fun factor for the clinical team!
